01— From the back cover

What if your emotions aren’t the problem, but the pathway home?

Somewhere along the way, you learned that some emotions were dangerous, some questions were faithless, and some parts of you were better kept quiet. So you learned to manage, suppress, spiritualize, and sometimes disappear inside your own life.

Ahavaאהבה — is Hebrew for love. It is also a river, where God’s people paused on the long road home to remember who they were.

This is not another book telling you to try harder. It is an invitation to pause by the river, listen to what has been silenced, and remember that the love you’ve been striving to earn has been yours all along.

The way back is always open.

02— Who this is for

If love has to be earned

If you’ve ever believed that love has to be earned, that what you feel is too much, or were taught not to feel at all, this book is for you. If you’re collapsing under the weight of silence, convinced that speaking up is rebellion, this book is for you.

This isn’t another book telling you to just trust God more while offering no practical tools for how. Nor is it filled with therapeutic buzzwords from pop psychology dressed up with Bible verses that sound profound but leave you unchanged.

04— Chapter one

Read the first chapter

Do you know that feeling when someone says I love you and your body tenses instead of relaxes? When affection feels like a demand and closeness makes you want to flee? When the words that should bring comfort make you want to hide? That’s not how it should be, but it’s common.

Somewhere between Eden and now, love got twisted.

You weren’t born afraid of love; you learned it.

A father’s silence taught you that love must be earned. A mother’s criticism convinced you that you’re never enough. A spouse’s withdrawal showed you that even marriage can be a place of profound loneliness. A pastor’s sermon called your voice rebellion and your needs selfish.

A prayer for our journey

Lord, thank You for bringing me to this moment. As I begin this journey, help me to pause and reflect on Your love and purpose for my life. Teach me to name my emotions, align my values with Your truth, and act in ways that honor You. May Your presence be my anchor and Your love my guide.

Amen.
